From 2012 - 2014 the author traveled the entire American continent from Halifax/Canada via Prudhoe Bay/Alaska, always following the legendary Panamericana to Ushuaia/Tierra del Fuego and again north to Salvador de Bahia/Brazil. He crossed 20 countries and covered over 105 thousand km. In the second largest state of the American double continent (2.78 million square kilometers), which the Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci was the first European to reach in 1502, the author was particularly interested in the sparsely populated areas of the dry savannah in the north and the dry and cold south. With a north-south extension of 3,694 km, Argentina has almost all climate zones in one country. Around a third of the approximately 44 million inhabitants are concentrated in the metropolitan area of the capital Buenos Aires. Agriculture, livestock breeding and raw material extraction play a major role economically. Argentina has been independent from Spain since 1816 and is politically a presidential federal republic with 23 provinces and the autonomous city of Buenos Aires.
