Thorn (Torun) is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Poland and was founded on the Vistula by members of the Teutonic Order in the 13th century. The Gothic old town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
The city's most famous son is Nicholas Copernicus, who was born in 1473 and is one of the most famous astronomers in world history.
Thorn is a Gothic Hanseatic city and offers visitors a magnificent medieval old town.
