And the variety is huge: the coastal landscapes vary from rough, high cliffs to wide sandy beaches that are perfect for swimming. 1400 km of continuous coastal paths invite you to hike along these coasts. Three national parks such as the well-known Brecon Beacons or Snowdonia National Parks offer wild mountains, green valleys, raised moors, glacial lakes and heathland landscapes.
But there is also something for lovers of old walls - many castles, churches and old monasteries can be found scattered throughout the country, many can be visited and the nice little churches are usually open.
If you're more drawn to the city, you shouldn't miss Cardiff with its impressive rugby stadium, lots of shopping opportunities and the historic market hall.
Anyone who starts their days full of sights with a full English breakfast and ends them in a cozy pub with good food and a few ales will learn to love the country as a whole - like me.
