The Edersee is one of the largest German reservoirs and the center of the Waldeck-Frankenberg holiday region with the Kellerwald National Park. The lake is a tourist magnet and a recreational area known nationally for the 400-meter-long barrier wall built in 1908. When water is low in autumn, parts of the once flooded settlements, such as the Asel bridge, reappear.
