Podencos 2017 - CALVENDO photo puzzle

A motif from the calendar "Podencos 2017" by Andrea Redecker: In Spain, Podenco means running dog or, depending on the region, hunting dog. In Portugal and Spanish Galicia the usual spelling is Podengo. They are common in the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands and are similar to the greyhound breeds. Although not pure sight hunters like greyhounds, due to their similar body structure they are looked after by greyhound breed clubs in most European countries and can take part in greyhound sports. The name Podenco or Podengo is always given another name - the regional origin - for example Podenco Canario, the Podenco from the Canary Islands, or Podengo Português, the Podengo from Portugal. All Podencos are notable for their bat-like erect ears, which often appear even larger due to their slim body shape. Most Podencos come in rough- and smooth-coated varieties, and some breeds come in 3 different body sizes: small, medium and large. The Podenco is a very independent dog - bred to hunt independently in a pack without people or signals. In their countries of origin, they are transported by vehicle to the respective hunting area and swarm out in packs of 6-8 dogs. They hunt with all their senses, track down the game - mostly rabbits - and chase it alive to the hunter.
