Terns are migratory birds that winter in the tropics and sometimes even in Antarctica. They are called terns because of their narrow wings and forked tails. We were able to observe them very well in the Good Hope Nature Reserve on the southwestern tip of South Africa. It's a lot of fun. Watching them fly in formation. Because of their high flying speed and abrupt changes in direction, it is a major photographic challenge.
