The owls (Strigiformes) represent a very peculiar, independent group of birds that are distributed in a variety of species all over the world and can be found in all landscapes and climate zones and must be very old in terms of phylogenetic history. Despite external similarities - curved beaks and sharp, dagger-like fangs - and similar hunting and feeding habits - there is no close relationship with birds of prey, as is often mistakenly assumed. Their habitat is the orchards, which unfortunately are constantly disappearing. The little owls are helped in many parts of Germany by setting up nesting aids.
