Rysum is located north of Emden in the municipality of Krummhörn. Built on a terp, Rysum is approximately six meters above sea level. Before dikes were built, terps served as protection against storm surges. In the center of the village is the church with the oldest still playable organ in Northern Europe from 1457. Around the church with the adjacent cemetery are the houses of the former farm workers in narrow streets. The village is laid out in a circle. The Rysum Mill, which is still in operation today, is just such a sight. In thirteen photos, photographer Rolf Pötsch shows the beauty of this village.
