The Silk Road does not exist. Rather, this ancient trade route is a network of roads and paths that once connected China with the West. With their palaces, mosques, minarets, madrassas (Koranic schools), domed buildings, bazaars, old city walls and magnificent buildings, the oasis cities could still serve as the perfect backdrop for a “fairy tale from 1001 Nights”.
