Crystal ball with aperture stars
"Morning hour has gold in its mouth" - that's what Abbot Bun must have thought in 831 when he determined the exact east-west floor plan of today's monastery ruins. Over the course of a day, the dazzling rays of sunlight repeatedly project previously unseen light patterns through the huge Romanesque window arches. You can experience the most spectacular light displays at the right time and in the right place. Festival photographer Steffen Sennewald seized the right moment. He held his crystal ball up to the morning sun, which was peeking out from between the clouds and gently grazing the central apse arch. The impressive result is impressive - three suns and two abbey ruins with St. Catherine's Tower immortalized in one picture. The motif is a masterful feast for the eyes aimed at admirers of the classic snapshot in backlight. The diffraction of sunlight at sharp edges creates the popular aperture stars in the form of sun rays. For all romantics, guests and fans of the Bad Hersfeld Festival, friends of the Abbey Ruins, Hersfeld and their guests, this photograph is one of the rare eye-catchers that will remain in your memory forever.
