The Steyrtalbahn is the oldest 760mm narrow-gauge railway in Austria. Our train travels past the world-famous Christkindl pilgrimage church (Unterhimmel-Christkindl station) through meadows and untouched floodplain landscapes. Mostly far away from towns, the route follows the course of the Steyr through one of the most attractive valleys in the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen region. Via Neuzeug and Letten we go to Aschach an der Steyr and on to the Sommerhubermühle stop, before crossing the river with a mighty arched bridge just before Grünburg. The final stop of the narrow-gauge railway is Grünburg train station, from which you can reach the picturesque old town of Steinbach an der Steyr in just a few minutes.
