On September 19, 2021, the Tajogaite volcano erupted on the Cumbre Vieja ridge on La Palma. It raged for 84 days and created a completely new, black landscape. Fear, destruction, but also fascination for this natural spectacle went hand in hand. Months later, the lava only cools very slowly, the volcano is still smoking and shows its presence in different forms every day. We people here in La Palma have to learn to live with it and the change.
