The Tembe Elephant Park, founded in 1983, is located in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal on the border with Mozambique and is home to around 200 elephants. Initially, the elephants were very aggressive due to poaching during the civil war in Mozambique, so visitors have only been allowed into the park since 1992. The area belongs to the Tembe people, who manage it together with the state conservation agency Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. The park is a wildlife sanctuary covering approximately 30,000 hectares, where, in addition to elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, lions and leopards, there are also zebras, giraffes, hyenas, hippos and numerous species of antelope. In addition, around 340 species of birds have been spotted. The special thing about this park is the friendly, almost loving treatment of each other, the guests and the animals. This successful calendar was republished this year with the same images and an updated calendar.
