Elephants are the largest land mammals on earth alive today. They have the largest head, longest trunk and brain and are also quite heavy, weighing up to 6 tons. Elephants are not only clever but also very sensitive. The elephant family includes two genera - the African and the Asian elephants. What elephants have in common is the threat they face from humans. The photo artist Angela Dölling created 12 wonderful portraits of the gray giants for this calendar.
