Bornholm – Denmark's “Solskinsøn” (Island of Sunshine) in the Baltic Sea has an extraordinarily wide variety of landscapes due to its location in the transition from the Scandinavian shield, which is characterized by gneiss and granite, in the north and the sedimentary rock of the Polish Basin in the south.
The images in this calendar follow the varied, almost 160 km long coastline. From the rocky west coast it goes over the north coast with its cliffs and granite bays to the gentle sandy beaches on the east and south coasts with their dune forests and pier.
Everyone who visits the island swims on the white sandy beach of Dueodde and hikes on the west coast to the Hammershus ruins. Whoever builds a “Krøllebølle” out of stones in a bay on the Hammeren headland at the end of the trip will come back to the island, as they say on Bornholm!
