Known for its asparagus, Schrobenhausen has much more to offer. The city wall from the 15th century is almost completely preserved. Some of its towers and gates are still inhabited today and others are used as a museum. The city's most famous son is Franz von Lenbach. He was born in Schrobenhausen in 1836 and was Germany's most famous portrait painter in the 19th century. The house where he was born on the city wall has been a museum since 1937 and houses many of the artist's works.
