When the ETZ 251 was launched in 1988, no one could have imagined that it would be the last motorcycle in the GDR. After the GDR was annexed to the Federal Republic of Germany, the motorcycle factory in Zschopau also came under fire. A Turkish company acquired the licenses to build the ETZ 251. The German motorcycle became a motorcycle made in Turkey until it finally ended in 1997.
