200 architects were involved in the planning of a huge social housing program that the Vienna city administration implemented between 1919 and 1934. 61,000 apartments were created and the workers' housing shortage was significantly alleviated. The architects incorporated various stylistic elements into the planning, which gave each individual building a distinctive appearance.
